The UvA has a long history. Founded as the Athenaeum Illustre in 1632, the UvA has developed into one of the larger general European universities and currently has approximately 28,000 enrolled students.
The UvA has seven faculties that carry out research and provide education in the humanities, social sciences, economics and business studies, law, the natural sciences, medicine and dentistry.
The University offers a diverse and internationally oriented range of study programmes. Approximately 7,500 academic publications by UvA staff members appear every year. Much of the fundamental scientific research carried out at the UvA ranks among the best in the world. The countless practically oriented research programmes are partly multidisciplinary in nature and focus on socially relevant issues. For further details about the UvA, go to www.uva.nl.
Metamorfose Vertalingen has provided translation services for the UvA since 2008 in a very wide range of fields, from web texts, research descriptions, student information brochures, ICT manuals, speeches and study programme information to formal reports and administrative documentation (Annual Report, Strategic Plan, terms of employment, Management and Administration Regulations and the Policy and Management Covenant). Metamorfose Vertalingen assists the University’s Translation Coordinator in compiling and maintaining a terminology database with UvA-specific education and research terms.
